State-of-the-art engineering under the sea.

R&D&i

High-technology vibration equipment, ROV subsea inspection, MACSM, outfall cleaning and Pile Master.

High-technology vibration equipment

Equipment able to obtain samples from the seabed down to a maximum depth of 6 m in 20 seconds. This allows us to cover the needs of the national and international market.

We have collaborated with the Ministry of the Environment on the study of sand location along the Spanish coastline in order to regenerate beaches and develop new research techniques, for which we designed and manufactured a sled with radio-frequency signals for bathymetric surveying in surf zones.

Subsea inspection equipment

At Geomytsa we are aware of the importance of marine surveying, which is why we have technicians specialised in the development of IPSE and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) that make it possible for operators to examine the seabed in a more comfortable and safer way, using high-quality cameras and an LED lighting system that allows recording and photography.

MACSM (Automatic Marine Soil Characterisation Machine)

One of the systems Geomytsa has, in collaboration with companies in the sector, is the Automatic Marine Soil Characterisation Machine (MACSM). The subsea intervention unit is used to obtain samples from the seabed for geotechnical research.

The system uses Machine Learning models to facilitate the use of drilling heads and to predict soil characterisation; it also includes an absolute multi-turn encoder.

The MACSM is normally deployed from basic vessels of opportunity, but in its autonomous version it uses surface-guided vehicles (ASV) in nearshore environments, with no need for any marine crew operator.

Pipeline intervention and cleaning system (SIL)

One of Geomytsa's most recent projects is the outfall intervention and cleaning system (SIL) for inlets and submarine pipelines, using ultra-cavitation.

This equipment makes it possible to record and clean the installations with Machine Learning procedures and biofouling identification, since it is fitted with its own subsea instrumentation such as a laser distance meter, LED lighting, PTZ camera and 3D inclinometer. It also has a 1,500 m to 2,000 V pump unit.

Pile Master: automatic pile cleaning and inspection system

Geomytsa, in collaboration with companies in the sector, has developed a system that makes it possible to clean port installations built on piles with adhered biofouling, record the state of the surface (cracks, loose parts, breakages…), and measure structural quality parameters such as thickness or protection parameters such as electrical potential.

The unit is built in ultralight carbon fibre rated to 60 bar and has its own subsea instrumentation such as a thickness gauge and HD camera.

The system is positioned by remotely guided ASV modules that require minimal intervention by personnel both on the surface and under water. At the end of the process a complete georeferenced report is generated automatically, identifying the risks detected.
